World4ch User's Guide

■ About this BBS

This is a plain text BBS. Pick a board in the left-hand menu, read existing discussions, and post a message.

■ Posting

Enter a name (or leave it blank for Anonymous), a subject for new threads, and your message. No registration is required.

New replies move a thread to the top of the board. Messages can be up to 5000 characters long.

Every board numbers its own posts, so post 5 on one board and post 5 on another board are different posts. A thread's number is the number of its first post.

Posting uses an automatic anti-spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile). Most people never see it; if a checkbox appears, tick it before submitting. JavaScript must be turned on to post, and content blockers must allow challenges.cloudflare.com.

■ Quoting and links

Type >>123 to reference post 123 on the same board. To point at another board, type >>>/board/, or >>>/board/123 for a post there.

A single > at the beginning of a line formats that line as greentext. Web addresses starting with http:// or https:// become links.

■ Text art (AA)

To post text art, tick Text art (AA) under the message box, or put the art between [aa] and [/aa] in your message. Art keeps every space exactly as you typed it and is shown in MS PGothic at 16 pixels on 18 pixel lines, the classic setup for Japanese text art. Computers without MS PGothic get a matching free font, Saitamaar, instead. Art wider than the screen scrolls sideways. A new thread without a subject takes its title from your text, leaving the art out; if there is only art, the thread is called "Text art", so give art threads a subject of their own.

■ Rules

Do not spam, harass other users, or publish private information. Respect the topic of each board. Moderators may remove posts, lock threads or ban posters.

■ Privacy

Your posts are public. There are no accounts, and the board itself sets no cookies for readers. Posting without an account is not a guarantee of anonymity: to fight spam and enforce bans, each post is stored with a keyed one-way hash of your network address (never the address itself), the anti-spam check is run by Cloudflare, and hosting providers may keep access logs.
